The Holy Spirit is hovering over the world today. He convicts, leads, teaches, and reveals things to come. His presence is not only active globally but also deeply personal, touching each of us individually. It’s quite remarkable when you think about it.
As far as the world is concerned, there is a tremendous battle taking place between demons and angels. On a personal level, each of us faces our own spiritual battles, and I believe these struggles are intimately connected to our spiritual growth. All of this ultimately serves to glorify Jesus.
Your spirit and soul are eternal; your body is not. While nurturing the body is important, feeding the soul and understanding the spirit within us is of utmost importance. Reading your Bible and spending time with Him may sometimes feel like a chore because the flesh resists it. The flesh is contrary to the things of the Spirit. It despises God and the things of God, which is why we must bring it under control and turn it toward the Spirit.
Many times, when I turn toward spiritual matters, my mind objects, saying, “What are you doing? This is a waste of time! Don’t you realize you have so many other things to do?” The flesh is our enemy, and this is why Paul urged us to crucify the flesh. When you set your sights on the things of God, all hell can break loose. There’s a battle within us, and I believe we all experience similar struggles when we seek the things of God.
As I mentioned earlier, the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. It’s not our job to convict the world; it’s our job to love and accept those who are convicted (John 16:8-11).
The Holy Spirit also guides us into all truth—imagine that, all truth. Anything you want to learn, any question you have, He will reveal the truth to you. He is more powerful than any AI ever invented. He knows the future and every detail of your life. What do you need right now? How do you accomplish your goals and desires? How do you become a loving spouse, parent, leader, or single person? He has all the answers for your life. My experience has been to ask Him to show me what I need to see. Rarely do I receive an answer immediately; sometimes, it takes years, but I trust it’s all in His timing. The Bible says, “Seek, and you shall find”, and I have witnessed the power of this truth many times in my life.
When He speaks to us, He shares what He hears from the Father. He also desires to reveal the future to us (John 16:13). Are you hearing what I’m saying? This past January, I told my wife I felt the Holy Spirit was showing me there would be a shift in our life and ministry. I didn’t realize He meant a 180° shift. My thinking is so small compared to His.
The Holy Spirit wants to show you and me how to do things His way, and this begins with trusting our inner voice. It’s crucial to understand that His voice is not amidst the noise in your head; it’s too busy up there for Him. He is not the author of confusion, so He definitely doesn’t engage with it. We all have unresolved problems that plague us, but these problems are designed as teaching tools. Through His guidance, anything can be resolved.
The Holy Spirit longs to reveal Himself to you. This is incredibly humbling! Over the years, I have learned that He is more than just a name. The Holy Spirit is a comforter, intricately involved in our lives in ways the mind cannot comprehend. It takes active faith to engage with Him in your life. It takes determination not to leave Him out. For many years, He has led me, protected me, revealed things to me, shown me future events, and has been more than a friend.
Lastly, the Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus by taking what is His and making it known to us (John 16:14-15). These functions are available to all of us and highlight the Holy Spirit’s role in guiding, teaching, convicting, and supporting believers, continuing the work that Jesus began during His earthly ministry.
Conclusion
I want to encourage you to include Him in your daily walk. The Holy Spirit is ready to guide you, comfort you, and lead you into all truth. Engage with Him, and you will experience the profound impact He can have on your life
